Warzone Season 6 is finally upon us and the final major patch before CoD Vanguard arrives is full of drastic changes and fresh content. From the return of the classic Gulag to new weapon tuning, here’s all there is to know.

Warzone Season 6 is finally here as the popular CoD Battle Royale has changed in a number of key ways, introduced a heap of new equipment and cosmetics, all while paving the way for Vanguard’s implementation.

Not only does this seasonal update bring powerful weapons, significant map changes, and even the original gulag layout, but a few mysteries also await this time around. From the Halloween event to potential Vanguard crossovers, there’s plenty to look forward to.

Warzone Season 6 release time and file sizes

Season 6 will be live across all platforms on October 6.

Warzone Season 6 arrived on Wednesday, October 6 at 9PM PT. As soon as you’ve downloaded and installed the latest update, Season 6 and all its new content should be accessible right away.

Warzone Season 6 map changes

Stadium has been ripped open in Season 6.

As the final season with Verdansk, the original Warzone map has changed up quite a bit. Three POIs in particular have been tweaked to some degree.

First up are changes to Downtown and Stadium. Both have been impacted by seismic charges, shattering the ground as though an earthquake hit the area. Expect to see plenty of squads dropping into these hotspots early into the season.

Next is something entirely new in Season 6 as WWII Bunkers have been scattered under Verdansk. Similar to earlier bunkers last year, these are filled with high-tier loot, so you’ll definitely want to hunt them down.

Return of the original Gulag in Warzone Season 6

The original Gulag layout has returned with a new twist.

Perhaps the most alluring aspect of the Season 6 update is the return of the classic Gulag. After months on the sidelines as classic Black Ops maps had their layouts copied over in the Gulag, the very first design is back with a twist.

It won’t be identical to what you remember, but it should be close enough to capture the magic of the original Warzone 1v1 once again.

New weapons arrive in Warzone Season 6

Five new weapons will be made available over the course of Season 6 in Warzone. While some are set to make an impact a few weeks in, three are available on day one.

First up is the Grav Assault Rifle available in the new Battle Pass. Similarly, the .410 Ironhide Shotgun is another free unlock in Season 6. The final addition at launch is the Battle Axe that can be earned through a unique in-game challenge.

Warzone Season 6 The Haunting Event

The Haunting is this year’s Halloween-themed event.

Midway through Season 6, players are in store for another spooky takeover. This year’s Halloween-themed event, The Haunting, is set to frighten everyone from Tuesday, October 19 until Tuesday, November 2.

MODES

Scopes and Scatterguns, The Rebirth Of…!

Get up close and personal… deal death from afar… spend a lifetime reloading between bolts… the choice is yours! Scopes and Scatterguns returns to Warzone – with a new twist.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Rebirth Resurgence
    • This mode builds upon a map and ruleset combination that we already all know and love – Rebirth Resurgence!
  • Limited Loot
    • The loot table will only include Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, and Crossbows. Aim true, Operator.
  • No Loadouts
    • No free Loadouts Drops and no purchasable Loadout in the Buy Station either! Players will have to up their scavenging game and win with what they find!
  • New Starting Weapon
    • The 1911 (BOCW) isn’t exactly a Shotgun… so Players will spawn in with the thematic Marshal (BOCW) instead.

  • Fixed a UI issue causing the Tempered Perk to display incorrectly during Plunder matches.
  • Fixed a visual issue causing the C58 (BOCW) ejection port to not open during the firing animation.
  • Fixed additional collision issues with various elements across Verdansk allowing Players to exploit/peek/shoot through them.
  • Fixed an issue causing a conflict between the audio of Red Doors and Supply Boxes.
  • Fixed an issue causing Operator Bios and the “Set as Favorite” UI option to not appear when using a gamepad.

UI, UX, & MORE

Regiments

  • Regiments are now frozen to ensure a smooth transition over to the new Clan-based system, coming later this year.
    • Players will now only be able to view their Regiment Roster and inspect other Players.
    • Players will no longer be able to create, manage, switch or invite others, use Regiment Tags, or receive Happy Hour rewards.
  • Loot Cards
    • The visual style of all loot cards has been updated!
    • In addition to this change, we’ve added information about the fire type of a Weapon to each loot card.
      • This will allow Players to observe if a Weapon is automatic, semi-automatic, or burst before committing to it, without having to fire test shots or lose their next engagement.

ACCESSIBILITY

  • Killfeed (Time On Screen)
    • Added an option under the Accessibility menu to customize the amount of time that messages in the Killfeed stay on screen. This option is intended to support Hard of Vision, Hard of Hearing, and Cognitive Overload accessibility.
    • The setting has 5 options:
      • Off: Never show updates
      • Default: Updates show for 10 seconds
      • Medium: Updates show for 20 seconds
      • Long: Updates show for 30 seconds
      • Extended: Updates show for 60 seconds
      • Note: This will not affect the duration of disconnect notifications.
  • Mono Audio
    • Added an option under the Audio menu to adjust the degree to which the Mono Audio is applied when enabled.
    • The setting is adjusted via a slider:
      • A higher value merges sounds and sends them through left and right speakers in similar proportions.
      • A lower value reduces the applied effect and preserves directional sound.
