Respawn Entertainment, developers of popular battle royale title Apex Legends, have released a brand new video that expands on the story of character Octane, revealing how he tricked another of the game’s Legends into giving him his robotic legs.

Octane was originally introduced to Apex Legends back at the start of the game’s first season, an adrenaline junkie who uses his mechanical limbs to speed around Kings Canyon in search of death-defying adventure, and victories in the Apex Games.
It’s long been known that Octavio Silva lost his legs during a failed Gauntlet run, but now Respawn have revealed how he managed to get his hands on his bionic appendages – by tricking Ajay ‘Lifeline’ Chey.

Lifeline had been convinced to help Silvia after she saw a letter than confirmed he had a job offer from his parents, only to find out that it had been faked so he could ensure he would get his bionic body parts, and once he got hold of them, cleared out before anyone could find out.
The conversation ends with Octane joking about the situation despite its seriousness, and then going in-depth about his Jumppads and how he plans to fund their creation, prompting Lifeline to block him entirely in frustration. You can read the full chatlogs between the two characters in the YouTube video below.

This isn’t the first time that Respawn have released information about their characters and the lore behind them, with a letter sent by Lifeline’s biggest fan earlier in the year describing how she saved a mercenary, convincing him to scrap his life as a killer and instead persue the arts.
It seems Respawn are intent on giving fans a look at the backstories of every character, so it shouldn’t be long until characters like Wraith and Bloodhound get their own lore expanded too.
